Wish List
Mascagni.org is looking for the following items:
-
Mascagni.org is interested in getting in touch with David Stivender's heirs, if any
are still alive today. We were briefly in touch with Kent Cottam, in New York, in
late 1999, with whom contact has since been lost.
-
Mascagni.org is also trying to get in touch with Maestro Luigi Ricci's heirs.
Maestro Ricci died in 1981, and had worked with Mascagni for decades. David
Stivender studied with Maestro Ricci in Italy. Mascagni.org has been trying to get
in touch with Jane Klaviter, former MET prompter, who studied with Maestro Ricci
and may be one of Luigi Ricci's heirs. After a very brief exchange in 2002, contact
with Ms. Klaviter was unfortunately lost.
-
An original version of the 78 RPM set of Parisina recorded in 1914, featuring
Alessandro Dolci and Francisca Solari. It is not known if such an original set is
still in existence. For more information, consult the Parisina Sounds page. In addition, Mascagni.org is
looking for the music of the following two excerpts:
-
"Offerta alla Madonna", Act II, Fon. X 69151 (mx. unknown), Orchestra only
-
"Delirio di Parisina", Act III, Fon. X 69151 (mx. unknown), Orchestra only
-
Full orchestral score of the incidental music for The Eternal City.
This score appears to be lost, but it will hopefully resurface.
-
Complete excerpts from the movie Regina della Scala featuring Mascagni
conducting his Nerone. A 1:42 excerpt is featured on a dedicated page. Any pointer to where the complete movie
could be located would help.
-
Film excerpts of Mascagni conducting Cavalleria Rusticana (probably the
Intermezzo).
-
We have a copy of Nerone di P. Mascagni, a
booklet published in 1935, but it is in bad shape. We would like to locate a second
copy in good shape.
-
Soundboard recording of 1995 performances of Act IV of Parisina with Denia Mazzola
Gavazzeni We have a version which we think is a bad quality audience recording.
We are looking for a version with better sound.
-
The page from the Deutsche Illustrierte Zeitung, No. 27 (1893) containing the
beginning of this article. The
missing page is probably page 560.
-
Hipolito Lazaro autobiography (in Spanish)
-
At least two caricatures of Mascagni were published in Vanity Fair in August 24,
1893 and April 17, 1912. These prints are documented here. There may be a third print, in which case we are
interested in learning about it!
-
The poem Rapsodia Satanica by Fausto Maria Martini was published probably in
1915. Mascagni.org has a version of this booklet (see the original document, text and pictures), but a page may be missing. It
appears that in a subsequent anthology, the poem was reproduced as it is now on
Mascagni.org. There may not be anything missing after all, but a second copy of the
original booklet would help resolve the question.
-
A copy (for a reasonable price) of the 78 rpm with Louis Morrisson singing
Afscheid van Moeder. Mascagni.org owns a broken copy. See the discography entry for more details.
If you have any information about these items please contact Mascagni.org!
